Winter Ward

Made a short little trip to the Ward today and got some quick snaps. Hoping to show up ready to shoot with some off camera flashes, my camera had something else on its mind and decided not to cooperate.

That's what you get for getting mad...

I was hoping someone could explain to me how a picture of a Bs Tail on the across hubba exposes like this with 1 SB-600 flash to the right side of the picture

Old

Just to get the season off to start, I though i would post some of my old photo's from a few years back before I even got really interested in photography

End of a not so exciting season...

Looks like the seasons are finally starting to change, and snowboarding is going to take over for a little while. Other than indoor parks photos, I don't think I'm going to be posting many skate pictures for a little while. I was debating on making a seperate blog for my Snowboarding photo's but that just seems like too much work, so be expecting some as soon and the snow hits hard!

Lords Of The Ward

Today, The Ward Skatepark celebrated Lords of the Ward 2010. Lots of hardcore skating went down, and even the Canadian Circa team came to support the contest. Big congrats to Carter Grandin for winning first place in the 12 & under division, and Jon Cos for winning 13-16 years age group. Unfortunatly for me I didn't get too many photos due to technical difficulties. But here are some that turned out.

Spot Hunting!

Since nobody around my neighborhood really skate anymore and I don't realla have a way anyways else, my best hopes right now would be to promote spots to bring skaters over here! I've lived at the spot for about 7 years and as I grew and got older, The stairs ans rail get smaller. The run up is decent and it is definatly skateable (stairs/rail). My biggest concern would be having to nail the trick or as many tricks down as possible, security would be pretty tight.

New Game Face!

Today, I picked myself up a new Nikon D70! I have been wanting to upgrade from my D3000 for some time now and what better way to do so with a Nikon D70, 28-80mm and a Sunpak flash for the price of only 350$! The best part about this upgrade is that I can finally start shooting with wireless flashes, something that I couldn't do with My D3000. I'm expecting some quick photo's to come soon before snowfall. Photo's to come soon!

Ollies with... Jordan Hatzinger?

Just when we thought the skateboarding season was coming to an end, we found time to squeeze in one more session. But wait? With Jordan Hatzinger! With nothing but hockey and moving to toronto on his mind, Jordan decided he was up for another photoday. he has still proven himself to ollie off drops, and over high obstacles, when he hasn't skated in a few months. Take a look!

Rainy Days

It figures that the day I finally get to go shoot some new photo's, it starts to rain out. But that didn't stop us. We decided to go to the closest spot we could think of, and get right down to buisness before mother nature had her way with us.

Justin starts things off with an ollie...

Not Too Exciting..

Well, summer has almost come to an end, and it hasn't been too exciting. I didn't get as many photo's as I was hoping to this summer, but I am going to try to jam pack everything before winter has it's turn. I should have a few more posts this summer but for now, this is all your going to get. Cheers.

RED STAR DEMO!

Today the Red Star team had a Demo at The Ward Skatepark. It's been a while since the ward has brought any pro's, but today we has skaters such as Paul Trep, Paul Machnau, Chad Dixon, and Grant Paterson who is now pro. These photo's pretty much sum up a dope day.

First!

Made my way back to that "almost perfect" 6 stair today with the first person to come skate this. Not only the stairs, but the rail to! Congrats on being the first Dalton. After a long half hour wait for Roach in this 35 degree weather, we finally got down to buisness.

"so yea this rail should be fun, It's just that it's sackable" - Dalton

Skate For Free!

As you locals may or may not know, the city decided they were going to remove Guelph's outdoor park due to area complaints. As a result of this, the city also thought it would be a good idea, to help out the Ward Skatepark by letting people skate for free, and the city would pay for it! Thanks a lot Guelph!

I'll Be Back...

Today I went out and found this gnarly private school that had some pretty decent spots. Many pads, ledges, drops, and what I consider an "almost perfect" 6 stair. Unfortunatly my partner for the day did't feel the same way, and wasn't up for the challenge. I will definatly be back with somebody who is.

The "almost perfect" six stair, good run up, not to high, the length gives it a challenge, the landing is just kind of narrow.

Justin decided to ollie over this rock for the fun of it, knowing the was pure dirt on the other side, it didn't work out for him and he ended up eating it. Dislike the motion blur from the waste down but whatever.

There's also a pretty big 12 stair rail that is doable, but a piece of would would have to be put down the set before it to get some speed.

FINALLY!

FINALLY! After about 5 long months of waiting, today I came up with the last few dollars that I needed to buy a flash. I decided to go with the SB-600, although it won't work wireless with my camera, it still gives me a little bit more power as I'm shooting. I'll worry about the commander after I play around with my new flash. Pictures to come soon enough!

Sickness

The last couple of weeks I have been off my board due to "mono". Since then I really haven't been able to get out much so today I decided i would head down to the ward to take some photo's.

Bored of the Fisheye

Lately I've been taking a lot of pictures with my new fisheye, so this time I decided to go back to the regular 18-55 and look for some nice looking angles.

"He's still got it"

Today I went to The Ward with a buddy of mine, Jordan Hatzinger. I'd say he really hasn't skated hard and tried anything in a solid 3-4 months now, but it's like he never stopped. He ripped apart the Ward today with a couple of old bangers and ever pulled a few new ones out of his pockets. Here, take a look for yourself!

The Ward take #2

Today, I finally realized how much a need a flash. Indoor photo's really don't like to get along with my camera. I was pretty much just taking pictures of every trick being thrown down today at the park, so these are what I thought turned out best.
